Sylvester Stallone, nicknamed Sly Stallone,is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter who is rumored to have undergone a facelift, browlift and Botox injections. He is one of the biggest box office draws in the world from the 1970s to the 1990s, Stallone is an icon of machismo and Hollywood action heroism. He has played two characters who have become a part of the American cultural lexicon: Rocky Balboa, the boxer who overcame odds to fight for love and glory, and John Rambo, a courageous soldier who specialized in violent rescue and revenge missions. During the 1980s, he was one of the biggest movie stars in the world with the Rocky and Rambo franchises.
Plastic Surgery Ruins Sylvester Stalone
Whether you prefer him as Rocky or Rambo, Sylvester Stallone has never been afraid of a fight and it looks like he’s not afraid of the knife either, undergoing various plastic surgery procedures over the years. Sly debuted his latest look at the Venice Film Festival.
63-year old Sly showed up at the Venice Film Festival looking dapper in a pin-striped suit and fresh from the plastic surgeon’s office. He was even spotted sporting scars on his forehead indicating a recent browlift.
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “The pictures of Sylvester Stallone show signs of face and forehead lift - including visible scars. His brows also show an unnatural peak and skin bunching laterally. He does look improved from previous post-op photos, presumably the improvement has come as the swelling has resolved and the tissues have softened.”
This clearly wasn’t the fit actor’s first trip under the knife, as in the past, he has not only used injectable wrinkle-fighter Botox, but also has had a facelift and possible blepharoplasty surgeries to help show off his dark brown eyes. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Sylvester Stallone’s Botox). His skin may also be benefiting from chemical peels from time to time to help maintain his youthful looks.
On his blog a while back, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn reports, “I noticed on the interview that he had a nice, sharp jawline, which is pretty uncommon for a 61 year old man. This could be a sign of a facelift. Other than that, his eyelids show remarkably little aging in the photos above. This may be a sign of well-done blepharoplasty surgeries. He also appears to take good care of this skin, possibly with chemical peels and medical grade skin care. It’s also possible that some of his “nutritional” supplements may affect the way he looks, although I wouldn’t be able to comment much on that.”
More recently, Dr. Youn blogged, “Interesting photos show what appears to be open browlift scars on Sylvester Stallone. In this close-up picture you can see the scar extending along the hairline, very consistent with what you might find with an open hairline browlift. Plus, his eyebrows are over-arched in the photos, a possible consequence of Botox (or Dysport).”
“I haven’t performed an open browlift in over five years. Although many fantastic surgeons use this procedure, I have never seen a hairline browlift scar I liked. For this reason, I perform almost exclusively the Endotine Endoscopic Browlift. Scars are much shorter with less risk of numbness and chronic pain. The results may be less permanent and predictable than with an open browlift, however.”
“Sly better watch out. He’s starting to resemble Burt Reynolds…”
Some of you may have caught Sylvester Stallone getting back in the ring in the latest installment of Rocky. If you were around in the 80s, Stallone was the go-to-action hero of the day. The Gossip Squad is split on how we feel about Rambo’s new look. Some of us feel that Sly’s new face is decidedly overbotoxified (did we just invent this word) and that his facelift is poorly executed because he barely looks like himself anymore. One of our co-horts thinks that we should give Sly a bit of a break because he looks more like 40-ish than 60ish. But we all agree that with the cosmetic enhancements, Sly simply doesn’t look like himself anymore. Suffice to say, we didn’t fork out $11 to see the latest Rocky (and we saw I - IV).
And here’s a Twilight Zone moment that we picked up from the Daily Mirror: Stallone and his mother Jacqueline (pictured here) are looking more and more like one another every day. While looking like one’s mom is not an offense that raises a a plastic surgery red flag, Sly and his mom Jacqueline have admitted to sharing the same plastic surgeon and believe in taking advantage of all the anti-aging shots (read: Botox) and supplements that medicine can offer. As eloquently put by blogger Janet Charlton in her blog “We’re not sure if that’s a good thing. At least Sly’s pretty wife Jennifer knows what her husband what her husband will look like in twenty years.”
